Myths vs Reality: Process Automation
The topic of artificial intelligence is currently so hot that many myths have developed around it. Some companies enthusiastically "buy the hype," while others ignore AI because they fear it's a technology "not for them." Both attitudes are risky. Below, I present the most popular myths—and confront them with reality.

MYTH 1: "AI is only for large companies with huge budgets"
Reality:
These are no longer the days when only corporations could afford advanced technologies. Today, many AI tools operate on a subscription model (meaning you pay monthly for what you need), and many of them offer free plans.
Chatbots that respond to customers? You can have them for just a few dozen dollars a month.
Content generation tools, data analysis, or creating automated reports? All available online — often without coding.
AI is already available for sole proprietorships and small teams.
MYTH 2: "AI will take people’s jobs"
Reality:
Yes, AI automates certain tasks — but that doesn’t mean it eliminates jobs. It transforms them.
It mainly automates repetitive, routine tasks: copy-pasting, reporting, filling out forms. But people are still needed where it matters:
making decisions in uncertain situations,
creativity and empathy,
customer contact and relationship building.
AI does not take away jobs — it takes away boredom.
MYTH 3: "AI is infallible"
Reality:
AI operates based on the data it receives. If the data is incomplete, outdated, or incorrect, the results will be too.
AI systems can be very effective, but they are not infallible. They require oversight, testing, and — in many cases — common sense from humans.
It’s best to treat AI as an assistant, not as an "all-knowing boss".
MYTH 4: "Automation is a one-time process that you just do and forget"
Reality:
Automation is not a project that's "done and checked off". It’s a continuous improvement process.
Will the company's needs change? Then the process needs to change too. New tools will emerge? It may be worth simplifying or optimizing something.
Automation is like the operating system of a company — it’s worth taking care of it, updating it, and rethinking it from time to time.
MYTH 5: "You need to understand tech to use AI"
Reality:
You don’t need to be proficient in programming to use AI. Most modern tools are designed for "regular business users".
Moreover:
you have "drag and drop" interfaces,
ready-made integrations with other applications,
step-by-step wizards.
You need more awareness of possibilities than coding skills. You can leave the technical aspects to specialists — or... AI.
MYTH 6: "We don’t need AI because everything is working fine"
Reality:
This is a common belief in stable companies. But it's worth asking yourself: is it working fine — or have we just become accustomed to problems?
Long response times to customers
Employees overwhelmed with routine tasks
Manual reporting
Lack of control over processes
All of this can be improved. AI and automation are not just about "putting out fires" — they are an investment in efficiency, peace of mind, and competitive edge.
